Report on Dispatch System is Due Soon

A report detailing the costs of a centralized emergency dispatch system for Atlantic County's 23 municipalities is due soon, county officials said.

The county sent surveys to all municipalities asking for financial data and call volume, said Vince Jones, Atlantic County's director of emergency management.

Incident #1 01/02/2009 at 11:40am - In the rear of 1401 Elwood/Weekstown Rd for a Rescue Assignment

Incidents 2009

A hunter fell out of a deer stand and broke both his ankles. Forest Fire C-8 (Rusty Fenton), E16-3, R16-4, and a Weekstown Truck responded to the scene.

 E16-3's stokes basket was taken back to the victim with the help of C-8. EMTs and Medics were given a ride back to the victim (approximately 800 yards back in the woods) by C-8.

Once the victim was secured in the basket, Firefighters and Police carried him out to the awaiting ambulance. All units were clear from the scene at 12:39pm.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - Seven police, fire and rescue agencies responded about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday to a fire that ultimately destroyed a single-story house north of Pitney and Great Creek Roads in Galloway Township.

Most of the damage was to the inside of the house, according to Acting Galloway Fire Chief Joe Blazo. No one was home at the time. A passerby called 911, Blazo said.

Blazo said he expected to have more information later about the cause of the fire.

Galloway Police, Galloway and Absecon First Aid, and Oceanville, Bayview, Pomona and Port Republic fire companies responded to the scene, Blazo said.

Incident #117 12/14/2008 - 5217 Pleasant Mills Rd in Sweetwater for a Structure Fire

Incidents 2008The Elwood Fire Company along with Nesco, Weekstown, Sweetwater, Hammonton and Galloway responded to 5217 Pleasant Mills Rd in Sweetwater for a Structure Fire at 12:30am on Dec. 14th, 2008. Hammonton Rescue transported one person to Kessler Hospital for minor burns The fire was under control at 2:52am. Some crews remained on scene until 4:45am overhauling.

Hammonton Fire Dept 11th Annual Christmas Parade

Events















The Elwood Fire Company participated in the 11th Annual Hammonton Fire Department's Christmas Parade on Dec. 13 in downtown Hammonton.

Dozens of fire and emergency apparatus, specially decorated for the holidays, paraded through the downtown streets before continuing to the Hammonton Fire Station No. 1 on Line Street for a post-parade block party.

Mullica Township Losing its Rescue Squad

MULLICA TOWNSHIP - Free ambulance service in this town of 6,000 will end Monday when the local volunteer rescue squad disbands. "It's just time for us all to move on," Assistant Chief Bill Scaplen said. "Nobody wants to go out of business."
